JULY 8 -- MEET THE AUTHOR -- Meet Linda Pequegnat who has authored the book "This Day In San Diego History" which gives readers a look at the people, places and events that helped make San Diego the unique, colorful and eclectic city and county that it is. The booksigning will be hosted by Old Town Gift Co. from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in Old Town State Park's Fiesta de Reyes complex. JULY 10 -- A FESTIVAL, A CIRCUS, A STAGECOACH: OH MY! -- Make a point to visit Old Town for this all-day free festival in celebration of the historic reopening of the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Restaurant (formerly Casa de Bandini). Beginning at 1:00, the day will start with live entertainment including strolling actors and musicians. Circus performers will stroll throughout the Old Town State Historic Park and kids can enjoy stagecoach rides, horse saddling and tacking lessons. At 4:00 pm, the merchant of the park will host a multi-denominational blessing ceremony on the steps of the refurbished hotel with a Kumayaay sage ceremony along with dignitaries thrown in the mix. The Zirc Ubu circus will take the stage at 8:00 pm and perform 19th century-inspired acts uch as an aerial tissue dance, acrobatics, fire breathing, juggling and sword swallowing. Through its inviting text and many vintage photos, his book relates stories of bank robberies, assaults, and scandal. The Pride Parade is the best attended and largest single day event in San Diego.
